Transcripts Overview
We provide transcripts for policy and political events, including congressional hearings, briefings, and TV interviews. These transcripts come in two formats: proofread (reviewed by a human editor) and AI-generated. All transcripts aim to be nearly verbatim records of the events and are transcribed and edited either manually or by machine.
Markup Coverage
Please note that we typically do not cover markups. The exceptions are NDAA, Defense, and Milcon/VA appropriations markups that are open to the public—these are available exclusively as AI-generated transcripts. Comprehensive coverage of markups can usually be found on the Committees Coverage page on CQ.
Requesting Past Hearings
You can request transcripts for past congressional hearings, subject to scheduling availability. The standard turnaround time is 2 days, and our archives include hearings dating back to the 103rd Congress (1993). We’re also happy to assist in locating older transcripts if needed.
How to Request a Transcript
You can request transcripts directly through your CQ account by following the guide: How do I request a Transcript?
