Tweet Your Official Engagements allows your advocates to post a pre-written Tweet on a legislator's timeline.
You can use Tweet Engagement to contact Federal and Local Elected Officials and and Candidates for Federal and Local office.
To create an Tweet Your Official Engagement, first go to the Engagements page under the "Engage" menu and click the "Create Engagement" button. Select the Campaign this Engagement should be assigned to select the Engagement type Tweet Officials.
In the "Compose" section, write in your Headline (required) and Sub-Headline. You can also customized text for action button that will appear on your public facing Engage website.Next, enter the Engagement text. This allows you to describe the issue in a few brief paragraphs. You can also enter in Expired text (if the advocate reaches the Engagement after it is no longer active).If you plan to add this Engagement to a List published in a Featured Item Module, we recommend setting a Foreground (for the "Engagement" and "Advocacy" themes) or Background image (for the "Association" and "Advocacy" themes).Select "Continue" after you are done to go to the Messages page. Once there, you select the target recipients for your advocates' tweets and compose your tweet.
Click "Select Recipients" and choose your targets. You can compose up to four different tweets to four different recipient groups. A target will only receive a single message from this engagement.
Now, compose your prepopulated tweet. Twitter messages may not be longer than 280 characters so limit your message to 266 characters to leave room for the recipient's Twitter handle.. The placeholder for their handles is ‘@twitterId’.
When done, select "Continue" to go to Settings. On this page you can adjust the start and end dates of your engagement. You can also pick an "Additional Advocate Info" form to display with the Tweet section of the Engagement.The last three tabs allow you to further customize your Engagement. Set the instructions for guidance to your advocates to help them compose their tweets, the Confirmation section appears on the web site after they send their tweet, and the Thank You Email will be sent to the activist after all actions are completed.When you are happy with your settings click continue to review and finish your engagement. Click publish Now, when you will go to Engagement page you will find your tweet engagement. Click the Detail button and you'll see the details of the Engagement there.Taking Action on the Engagement When your advocates take action on your Tweet Your Officials Engagement they will enter their contact and address information just like they would for Write a Letter Engagements. We'll use this information to help you report on their activities and to match them to their elected officials.
After they've been matched to their officials they'll see each tweet they can edit and send their tweets individually or all at once.
If your advocates accidentally delete text for their tweet they can easily restore it by clicking the Restore default text link to restore your great, prepopulated message.
