Breaking Down your Legislative Tracking Tools
As a staffer, you have access to a number of features in CQ Federal built to help you track legislation as it moves through Congress. These features include ones proprietary to CQ, and others pulled into CQ from external sources.
Proprietary CQ Features & Content
- Bill Track: A running feed of bill updates. CQ reporters on the floor send updates of bills as they move, and you can follow those updates as they happen via BillTrack.
- Bill Analysis: Comprehensive summaries of key legislation, written by CQ's Editorial and Research teams. Available by request only, but archives of prior analyses are available and searchable.
- Hot Docs: A unique trove of policy-related documents in CQ including draft bill texts, Dear Colleague letters, Congressional press releases, White House documents and more.
- CRS Reports: Detailed reports on any topic, as requested by Congress.
- Floor votes: A breakdown of all floor votes taken going back to 1991.
- Bill Compare Report: Helps you to analyze the differences between two versions of a bill by quickly and easily generating a report with all added, changed and removed text.
- Bill Status Report: Helps you compile updates, actions and notes around key pieces of legislation your team or organization is tracking, all with a few clicks of a button.
Other Congressional Data
- Amendment Text: Amendments made during hearings to bills.
- Bill Text: Full text of all proposed bills.
- Congressional Report: Congress’s daily report of what transpired that day.
- CRS Bill Digests: Summaries of all bills once they have been introduced.
- CRS Reports: Detailed reports on any topic, as requested by Congress.

Navigate to 'Research' → 'Bills' to see all available legislative tracking tools on the lefthand side of the page.
